Saving their life without costing their life

Rabies doesn't care who it kills. It doesn’t care who suffers and dies in its clutches.

But we do. We care about every single life lost to rabies.

Rabies must be stopped, for everyone. Every life lost to rabies is one too many, whether that life is a child, an adult, a beloved pet or an abandoned stray.

Rabies kills 59,000 people every year, and thousands of dogs. Families are torn apart and dogs are mistreated or even inhumanely killed for fear they may pass on this disease.

But rabies can be stopped, and the best way to stop rabies protects both people and dogs.

The human rabies vaccine is expensive, often inaccessible, and only addresses the human suffering from this disease, ignoring the thousands of dogs who suffer every year.

The real solution to rabies is the most cost effective, sustainable and keeps people and dogs safe.

99% of human rabies cases come from dogs. To stop the spread of rabies we need to stop dogs catching it in the first place. This can be achieved by creating herd immunity amongst dogs through canine vaccination on a large scale.

If the dogs do not get rabies, they can't pass it on to people, stopping the disease in its tracks.

Vaccinating a person against rabies can cost up to 50 times more than vaccinating a dog.

So for the same cost as a human vaccination we can vaccinate 50 dogs, stopping rabies before it even reaches humans and saving dogs from needless suffering.

The devastation of rabies is not just felt by individuals, the lives it takes also weigh heavily on the governments of countries where rabies is present. Rabies usually impacts the poorest in society, those who cannot afford to lose income or get treatment. Vaccinating dogs and stopping the spread of rabies not only reduces pressure on the government it also means more people are able to work, study and contribute to the economy.
